Interview with Julien and Madalina Blanchard, souls of the brand JUL ET MAD.

Jul et Mad came also. Charming couple Julien and Madalina Blanchard. Well-coordinated team. Two for work, two for love. Julien typical French beau, studied neurobiology. Madalina a cosmopolitan girl from the Romanian Carpathians, seasoned with the perfume world. Their personal story, love story bottled in flacons with perfumes, with which they try to bring back the sparkle of the word „Parfum“. And now they were here. In Bratislava, to be our guests at the festive opening of 1907’s perfumes boutique, as representatives of the rare perfumes world. I asked them with interest, and they gladly replied. Here it is, the interview with Julien and Madalina, representing the brand Jul et Mad.

Prišli aj Jul et Mad. Roztomilý pár Julien a Madalina Blanchard. Zohraný tím. Dvaja na prácu, dvaja na lásku. Julien typický francúzsky švihák, vyštudovaný neurobiológ, Madalina kozmopolitná deva z Rumunských Karpát ostrieľaná parfémovým svetom. Svoj osobný príbeh, svoju love story uzavreli do flakónov s vôňami, ktorými sa snažia navrátiť pôvodný glanc slovu parfém. A teraz boli tu. V Bratislave, aby boli našimi hosťami pri slávnostnom otvorení parfémového butiku 1907 ako predstavitelia sveta neobyčajných parfémov. Ja som sa ich so záujmom pýtal a oni ochotne odpovedali. Interview with Spanish perfumer Ramon Monegal.

Ramon Monegal’s brand was a dream. Evka’s dream. It was winter, Christmas of 2014 was approaching.  A package from Barcelona arrived. The package contained a fulfilled dream. A magnificent gift cassette with miniature perfumes of Ramon Monegal, and the agreement that he will enter the Slovak market with 1907 perfumeries. It happened, and his perfumes are between the jewels of 1907’s boutiques in Kosice and Bratislava. At that time, nobody anticipated that we will meet in person Ramon Monegal, his wife Maria, and daughter Laura. On the 2.9.2015 Ramon Monegal arrived because of the opening event of our perfumery in the Carlton Hotel in Bratislava and for three days was just ours. Not to have an interview with such a charming and full of energy person would have been a sin. So here I am bringing you the very pleasant interview with him.

Rozhovor so zakladateľom a vlastníkom Puredistance, Janom Ewoudom Vosom.

Blížil sa september a spoločnosť 1907 chystala otvorenie svojho nového butiku v Bratislave na Hviezdoslavovom námestí v pasáži Hotel Carlton. Otváralo sa 3. semptembra vo veľkom štýle s tlačovkou a slávnostným večerom v reprezentatívnych priestoroch hotela. Boli pozvaní významní hostia zo sveta niche parfumov aby odprezentovali verejnosti svet na Slovensku dosiaľ takmer nepoznaný, svet výnimočnej exkluzivity a nezávislej parfumérie.

Nemohol medzi nimi chýbať ani charizmatiký zakladateľ, majiteľ a vizionár značky Puredistance Jan Ewoud Vos. Na vysokého elegantného chlapíka z Amstrerdamu sme si pripravili malé prekvapenie hneď v úvode. Našim pôvodným plánom bolo dostať skutočný Aston Martin do vnútorných priestorov hotela, kedže toto auto sa viaže k myšlienke jedného z jeho parfumov, ale o tom neskôr. Zaúradovali technické prekážky a tak ostalo pri náhradnom riešení, ktoré napadlo Evke Škovranovej cestou do Bratislavy. Prinesme mu Aston Martin na ďiaľkové ovládanie. Stalo sa. A tak moje prvé stretnutie s Janom Ewoudom Vosom prebiehalo s diaľkovým ovládačom v ruke a autíčkom na podlahe, ktoré sa vyrútilo spoza múru a namierilo si to rovno k nohám pána Vosa čakajúceho na recepcii.

Rozhovor so španielským parfumérom Ramonom Monegalom.

Značka Ramon Monegal bol sen. Evkin sen. Bola zima a Vianoce “2014” sa blížili. Z Barcelony dorazil balík. V balíku bol splnený sen. Nádherná darčeková kazeta s miniatúrami parfémov Ramona Monegala a dohoda, že vstúpi na slovenský trh cez (parfumérie) 1907. Stalo sa a jeho vôňe patria medzi šperky butikov 1907 v Košiciach a Bratislave. V tom čase ešte nikto netušil, že sa s Ramonom Monegalom, jeho manželkou Mariou a dcérou Laurou stretneme osobne. 2.9 2015 Ramon Monegal vystúpil pri príležitosti slávnostného otvorenia parfumového butiku 1907 v Bratislave pred hotelom Carlton a 3 dni bol len náš. Neurobiť rozhovor s týmto očarujúcim a energiou nabitým človekom by bolo hriechom. A tak Vám sprostredkovane ponúkam tento veľmi príjemný rozhovor.

Interview with founder and owner of PUREDISTANCE Jan Ewoud Vos.

September was nearing, and 1907 was preparing to open its new perfumery in Bratislava on Hviezdoslavo námestie in the passage of the Carlton Hotel. It was opened on the 3d of September in great style, with a news conference and gala opening in the hotels representative halls. Important guests from the niche perfume world where invited to present to the Slovak public the unknown, exceptional exclusive and independent perfume universe.

Between the invited guests could not be absent the charismatic founder, owner and visionary of Puredistance Jan Ewoud Vos. For the tall simpatico guy from the Netherlands, we prepared from the beginning a small surprise. Our plan from the beginning was to get a real Aston Martin in the halls of the hotel, as this car is linked to one of his creations, but about that latter. Technical problems arised, so on the way to Bratislava, Evka Škovranová had an alternative idea. We will bring him a smaller version of Aston Martin with a remote control. So my first meeting with Jan Ewoud Vos was with the remote control in my hand, the small car on the floor that rushed from behind the wall to the legs of Mr. Vos who was waiting at the reception.

Azúrové more, teplé slnko a nekonečné pásy najjemnejšieho bieleho piesku lemujúce tropický ostrov uprostred ničoho. Vitajte v raji. Na mieste plnom farebných obrazov, kokosových paliem a nekonečnej pohody. Tam, kde čas stráca meno. Šerom sa ozýva spev pestrých vtákov a vĺn narážajúcich na pobrežie. Oblúk slnka sa vynára spoza horizontu a rozžaruje priezračnú oblohu. Sviežu rannú rosu na zelených palmových listoch prevísajúcich ponad pláž pomaly usušia lúče zalievajúce ostrov.

He set out to the hill. Through the forest, that he knew so well. Borne away by a moment of inattention, he departed his usual paths and ended up in an ancient, magical orchard at the end of the forest, where trees are retreating from swamps, talking flowers blossom and a brooklet flows down the valley. Many paths lead to it but only one is leading away. It’s midnight and tree crowns are fading into the darkness. As if the moon and stars didn’t come out today. He is sitting in all the silence and watching flickering flame reflecting off a calm lake. The smell of a fresh ash is spreading out from  the fire above which, a breeze is fluttering its wings and starting to paint a silhouette of a wisp. Such beautiful and luring light. He cannot resist. Determined to follow it, he starts walking, when his eyes notice another wisp as alluring as the first one in the opposite direction. Both are showing paths to take. He really wants to go after both of them but you know what it’s like. Wisps are tricky. You never know which one shows you the path leading to the treasure and which one leads you to the gates of hell. Many lost souls and few redeemed. He has to decide which one is the one to be trusted. But who holds the key ? 

Vône leta.

Predo dvermi máme leto, vzduch sa ohrieva a s ním sa znižuje aj naša tolerancia k ťažším a sladším vôňam, z ktorých nás v lete môže rozbolieť hlava, ktorá môže obťažovať nás aj všetkých naokolo. Leto vonia inak, mali by sme aj my voňať inak. Obliekame si ľahšie a vzdušnejšie šaty, nosme aj ľahšie a vzdušnejšie vône. Letná vôňa by Vás mala dobiť energiou, tak ako keď ráno zacítite vôňu čerstvej kávy. Vôňa na leto by mala byť ľahká a iskrivá. Nemusí ísť o slabé vodičky, ktoré vydržia pár minút, môže ísť o kompozície, ktoré sú plné a všimnuteľné, zvodné, provokatívne, elegantné, zmyselné  a vhodné do spoločnosti, ale predsa akýmsi spôsobom nadľahčujúce, plné osviežujúcich tónov, vytvárajúce pohodu, ktoré zvýraznia slnečnú povahu a pozitívnu atmosféru leta. Samozrejme aj tu závisí od osobného vkusu, od spôsobu života, od účelu použitia vône.
